What I Wore: White, Teal and Cobalt

It’s Wednesday already, where does the time go? Sometimes I feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day and others I watch the clock and it crawls- Slowly. I’m having a fast week and I like it!

Hope everyone’s holiday was fabulous, lots of family/friends, food, fun and cocktails. 😉 This was my last free weekend before school starts again.. Enter Stress! Any Philosophy buffs out there?

The weather has been sweltering here and I was the brainiac that decided to wear jeans one day, white jeans. Light colors and you’ll be cooler? No, not true when it’s 100 degrees and humid, and whose idea was it to do a photo op in the black asphalt covered parking lot? That’s right, this girl, but duty calls!

There appears to be a cool breeze, this is a farce. Imagine getting into a black car with black interior that has been sitting in the sun for 8 hours with the windows up and then turning the heat on full blast… How’s that for dramatic!

Jeans- Old Navy
Top- Girl Talk via Marshall’s
Cami- Merona via Target
Flats- Top Moda
Heels- Nine West (I did a shoe change did ya notice?)
Clutch(s)- Nine West
Shades- Guess via TJ Maxx

I love the teal and cobalt color combo with the white jeans. I wore this to work on Friday with a white blazer (Not Shown- see weather description above) last worn here the straps on this top weren’t appropriate for the office so I covered up while inside. I also wore the flat sandals all day and changed into the heels for after work festivities.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Thanks for stopping by,

(Special Thanks to my photog J.Rush for putting yourself at risk of heat exhaustion while taking my photos. You’re a champ!)

TJ Maxx: Polka Dot Gladiator

Cheers! It’s Thirsty Thursday, a phrase I lived by from twenty one years of age to my late twenty’s…… Who am I kidding I still love Thirsty Thursdays just don’t partake as much as I’d like too. I can’t quite hang the way I used to in my younger years, but a happy hour from time to time with friends does the trick to turn a frown upside down after a stressful work week.

I have also found that ‘Shop Therapy’ helps a bad day, typical for those of us with a shopping addiction. I’m sure you’re not surprised that my bad days lead me to the mall, even if its just to wander around aimlessly from purses to shoes to accessories to clothes…and clear my head of the “work junk.”

My therapy sessions typically take place at Marshalls, TJ Maxx or Target, I know what you’re thinking going to the gym and hopping on the treadmill can shake the stress away too, but that doesn’t make me want to jump out of bed the next morning seize the day and declare, “I can’t wait to wear my new polka dot skirt!!” Like shopping does 😉

Needless to say I bought that polka skirt and I had a great day yesterday! Feeling good about what you are wearing does amazing things for your psyche and shopping at TJ Maxx didn’t hurt my wallet either. For $130.00 I came home with:

-Max Studio Polka Dot skirt $19.99
-Olive and Oak orange blouse $19.99
-Olive and Oak Coral Blazer $20.00
-DKNY Boyfriend Jeans $29.99
-Tinseltown Jean Jacket $24.99
-Say What Coral and Tan Cardigan $14.99

Nothing releases feel good endorphins like a new outfit or two! Happy Thursday!

Be Bold: Wear Saturated Color

There isn’t a shade of blue I don’t like, as you will see over time I have a lot of it. When shopping I try to broaden my color scheme with pinks and purples but always end up in the blue/green section.

So what’s a girl to do that has a closet dedicated to a single color? Pull out the color wheel. In my last post I admitted my fear of wearing too many colors at the same time, I also vowed to live dangerously this year. That’s right folks I looked to the secondary colors to find a match to my Cobalt Blue sweater………Orange! Yikes! For me this is huge! Pairing two very unlike colors together is insanity! OK I’m being really dramatic it’s not that crazy, the pairing was beautiful and bold. Complimentary colors, who would have thought haha.

I love color, I don’t want you to think that I am a plain jane who doesn’t wear color, I do. My problem is cordinating the colors together, I’m too matchy. If I wear hot pink pants, my top should have the same hot pink somewhere in the pattern or I get lazy and just pair a bold color with black or white. I’m going to break free from my colorfashionphobia!

What do you think about the color scheme Orange and Blue? Do you have any fashion hang ups, I’d love to hear them!
