Summer Style Staple: LOFT Sundress

LOFT is currently having a huge sale on their dresses, now is the time to scoop them up! I promise you you’ll wear them for years. The structure and silhouettes are perfect for work and play, well made and come in a variety of colors.

I’m 5’2 so I wear petite in dresses and skirts, they are the perfect length fall right at or right above my knee in most cases unless the cut is designed to be shorter.

This dress is light and breezy in a pretty Coral color. The V in the front and back were a little too low for the office, to remedy that I threw on a floral scarf and white cardi to keep it conservative.

Wore to Work: Teal and Yellow

It is 100 degrees this week (no joke) over here on the East Coast. I sympathize with anyone who works outdoors in this type of weather; if that’s you, stay hydrated and take breaks. Safety First!

This heat is not conducive to good hair days, what is voluminous, shiny waves in the house turns into a limp, sweaty, straight mess by the time I cross the parking lot to enter work. In an attempt to offset the flat hair I punched up my attire with a bright color combo.

The necklace, a birthday gift, was my inspiration for the color scheme. Yellow and Teal.

2 Ways to Wear your LBD

My vacation has come to an end back to reality. We were fortunate to have great weather all week and its always a blast to spend time with family. Til next year!

Manic Monday and back to work (Yes I realize today is Wednesday I’m a little behind this week.. Bear with me 😉 I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; dresses are my staple come summer.

You can dress them up for work and dress them down for play. The LBD is the perfect example.

For Work: Grab a colorful blazer or cardigan, add some statement jewelry and wedges. Viola! Office Appropriate!

For Play: Colorful scarf, flats and a cute tote (got mine at Target $9.99!) Easy Breezy!

Here is how I styled my LBD for Work:

No More Ironing!

We are getting down to the final days before my sis gets married, praying for sunshine and blue skies and tying up some loose ends. My sister dropped her wedding dress off at my place this weekend not enough time to get it to a dry cleaner to be pressed I went to Target to buy a garment steamer, very impressed with the Conair Compact Fabric Steamer. If you’re in the market for a steamer I highly recommend it! I paid about $40.00.

I am a garment steaming virgin so I googled the hell out of “Steaming a wedding gown” the best tip I found: place a towel (I used a thin wash cloth) over the head of the steamer secured with an elastic (my hair tie) this will stop the garment from getting wet when the steamer sputters water. Two and a half hours later, the dressed is pressed! Woot! Brushing my shoulders off as we speak. The dress has layers of tulle, satin and chiffon, the satin was the toughest fabric to de-wrinkle/de-crease.

The steamer is easy to use and put together, it takes about 5 minutes to really heat up and it gets Hot, I have the steam burns to prove it. It comes with an over the door hook to hang your garments, very convenient.

I steam pressed a white linen dress it took literally 5 minutes to get all the creases out only had to go over it once. I don’t think ill ever iron again! Great purchase I highly recommend it!

April Showers Bring…

I don’t know about you but April showers (any showers for that matter) bring Big Frizzy Hair… Yikes! No amount of smoothing potions can tame my wild mane. While I should embrace my naturally curly/wavy locks I choose to straighten. We always want what we don’t have c’est la vie!

Bad hair days aside April Showers brought beautiful flowers, wouldn’t you agree? I can not believe it’s May already, time flies when you’re having fun!

On rainy days I have a hard time getting out of my pj’s. Just want to lounge around and watch Rom Coms all day but reality sets in and you remember you work a full time job and that’s not really an option. I try to stay away from wearing black on those day’s. My mentality is:

Gloomy day + dreary attire = depressing/negative mood

Gloomy day + bright color = happy/optimistic mood

Studies show that color can affect your mood…. Wear something Happy Today!

Target Finds: Peek at Kate Young Collection

The Kate Young Collection was launched in Target stores on Sunday, I was excited to check it out but had a busy weekend and didn’t make it over until Monday night. To my dismay my Target isn’t carrying the collection! What?!?!

Understandably my local Target is one of the smaller stores and the collection is special occasion dresses and pairings it doesn’t “fit” in this store I was told by the manager. So online I went…… I had my eye on the Yellow Beaded dress (sadly they are sold out) Ugh! I would really prefer to try the clothes on prior to purchasing, so my quest to find a Target carrying the collection continues.

Since I was already at Target it would have been a wasted trip if I didn’t walk around the clothing department and check out what’s new, after all it had been at least a week since I was there.

Target is a black hole that sucks me in (perhaps my shopping addiction is to blame) I can not leave that store without visiting every department and buying something.

Are you addicted to Target? I can’t possibly be the only one 😉

Here’s a peek at a few of the pieces I’m loving in the Kate Young Collection:

20130417-063835.jpg
The dresses are perfect to wear for a special occasion like a wedding or graduation. I would venture to say that some of the pieces are appropriate for the office as well.

I couldn’t leave empty handed.. So I tried a few things on. Since the warmer weather is approaching I prefer to wear dresses it’s just EASY. All summer long I wear dresses and skirts to work, so I grabbed a few and headed to the dressing room (pardon the poor selfie pics, I’m terrible)

What do you think? Yay or Nay?
