What I Wore: Bright and White

I don’t know about you but I love white. White pants, dresses, shirts..etc You get the picture.

The problem I have is I can’t make it through a day without spilling something on myself. The day my blue pen decides to explode is the day I am wearing White- coincidence?

The planets were all aligned yesterday, No spills! My white pants are still white, it was a good day!

Wore to Work: Polka Dots

I was having a Polka Dot kind of day, I own enough Polka dots to have a different outfit each day but I thought that would be a bit much. I wonder if anyone in my office would even notice?

Hmm, perhaps an experiment is in my future.

Purpose: To identify who really pays attention to the details of someone’s attire.

I’ll have to draft my thesis on this matter some other time… What are your thoughts?

What to Wear to the Office

Navy blue is a huge color for fall, it doesn’t have to be blah! Pair it with cool pastels now- after all it’s still July (Let’s not rush the summer) In the cooler months a dark teal and burgundy are the perfect accents.

What I Wore: Navy Sheath

I love a good deal! I found this Cynthia Steffe dress at Marshall’s a little while back for only $30.00, retails for $145.00. Yeah Baby! Can you feel my excitement?

Marshall’s is an excellent place for dresses for all occasions. I typically buy a style I can wear to work and this sheath is not only work appropriate but could be worn to a wedding or other special occasion.

It’s a neutral color so accessorizing is easy. I love bright pops of color so today I paired it with Kelly Green for a nice contrast. Maybe next week I’ll pair it with a vibrant Pink or keep it monochromatic with Cobalt Blue (my favorite color if you haven’t guessed.)

Neutral doesn’t have to equal boring, punch it up with a pop of color to make it interesting!

What I Wore: Floral & Pink

While searching for a matching shoe in the bottom of my messy closet I stumbled upon a floral blouse I completely forgot I had. Fell off the hanger onto the floor under a heap of shoes.

I had an awakening… I should probably clean out my closet and perhaps I will find other clothes I forgot I had, a whole new wardrobe possibly. I know what you’re thinking, it shouldn’t have taken me finding a shirt on the floor to come to the realization that I need to clean. (Trust me every time I opened the closet door I thought about it, but then I quickly shut the door- out of sight out of mind)

I follow several fashionable ladies on Instagram who are participating in a closet remix challenge. For an entire month, you hand over your credit cards- No shopping allowed! Everything you wear is strictly from what you already own. Sounds simple enough, but let me remind you I have problem, a shopping addiction. I instantly started to get the shakes when they explained you hand over your credit cards. What?! Who does that??

It’s actually a great idea and I plan on doing it for the month of August, who’s with me? Fellow shop-a-holics, this could be our rehab.

Here is that floral blouse I spoke of, I paired it with my pink lace pencil skirt from Target and nude wedges:

Trend to Try: Peplum & 3 Ways to Wear it

Peplum is an ultra-feminine silhouette that lends dramatic edge to any outfit. It can add curves to those with a boyish figure and can act as camouflage for those of us that have some belly pooch going on (That would be me, I lost my abs somewhere in my mid twenties.) Curvy gals can also rock this trend, cinch the waste with a belt and keep your bottoms sleek and straight.

A Peplum top is a statement piece that can be worn with any bottoms. Dress up ripped skinny jeans for an edgier look or pair it with clean lines like a pencil skirt or shorts for a more classic style.

For fashion risk takers wear your Peplum with a full skirt. Take care when pairing the two, this style is more for the boyish body types. Seen in the photo above. (Photo via Atlantic-Pacific)

Summer Style Staple: LOFT Sundress

LOFT is currently having a huge sale on their dresses, now is the time to scoop them up! I promise you you’ll wear them for years. The structure and silhouettes are perfect for work and play, well made and come in a variety of colors.

I’m 5’2 so I wear petite in dresses and skirts, they are the perfect length fall right at or right above my knee in most cases unless the cut is designed to be shorter.

This dress is light and breezy in a pretty Coral color. The V in the front and back were a little too low for the office, to remedy that I threw on a floral scarf and white cardi to keep it conservative.
