Hope everyone had an amazing weekend! My Saturday was spent shopping which ALWAYS makes me happy, I am on a credit card freeze for the month- but I am participating in a contest for Marshalls called Project Fab. I am a semi-finalist who was sent a gift card and asked to find some fabulous deals. Well, let me tell you I found some fabulous deals!
If you follow Ruby Slipper Diaries on Facebook and Instagram I shared a few photos during my shopping adventure… Check it out if you haven’t already.
Over the next week I’ll be sharing my purchases, but today is an Oldie but Goodie I bought at Marshalls a few years ago:
Sheath- Calvin Klein via Marshalls
Black Pumps- Franco Sarto via Marshall’s
Gladiator Heels- Nine West via Boscovs
Necklace- Burlington Coat Factory
If you saw the first of my Fall Trends post here red and black plaid is a trend to try next season, but honestly black and red is a classic color scheme that will never go out of style. So if plaid has you left feeling too lumber jack or school girl you can still stay trendy by pairing these colors together!
Thanks for reading,
I was having a Polka Dot kind of day, I own enough Polka dots to have a different outfit each day but I thought that would be a bit much. I wonder if anyone in my office would even notice?
Hmm, perhaps an experiment is in my future.
Purpose: To identify who really pays attention to the details of someone’s attire.
I’ll have to draft my thesis on this matter some other time… What are your thoughts?
Dress: Max Studio via Marshalls
Shoes: Payless $9.99
Hope you’re having a great week!
Thanks for stopping,

I love a good deal! I found this Cynthia Steffe dress at Marshall’s a little while back for only $30.00, retails for $145.00. Yeah Baby! Can you feel my excitement?
Marshall’s is an excellent place for dresses for all occasions. I typically buy a style I can wear to work and this sheath is not only work appropriate but could be worn to a wedding or other special occasion.
It’s a neutral color so accessorizing is easy. I love bright pops of color so today I paired it with Kelly Green for a nice contrast. Maybe next week I’ll pair it with a vibrant Pink or keep it monochromatic with Cobalt Blue (my favorite color if you haven’t guessed.)
Neutral doesn’t have to equal boring, punch it up with a pop of color to make it interesting!
Dress: Cynthia Steffe via Marshalls
Shoes: Nine West via Marshalls

LOFT is currently having a huge sale on their dresses, now is the time to scoop them up! I promise you you’ll wear them for years. The structure and silhouettes are perfect for work and play, well made and come in a variety of colors.
I’m 5’2 so I wear petite in dresses and skirts, they are the perfect length fall right at or right above my knee in most cases unless the cut is designed to be shorter.
This dress is light and breezy in a pretty Coral color. The V in the front and back were a little too low for the office, to remedy that I threw on a floral scarf and white cardi to keep it conservative.
Cardigan: New York and Company
Scarf: Target (Love their scarf selection)
Wedges: Nine West
Earrings: New York and Company

Is there such thing as wearing too much color? Found this dress on clearance for a whopping $9.99 at Burlington Coat Factory, my first thought, “There is a reason this is on clearance for 9.99, is it too Rainbow Bright?” So I put the dress down and continued to wander around the store.
If you’re not familiar, Burlington Coat Factory is similar to a TJ Maxx/Marshall’s. They carry some designer brands and have a huge coat selection- hence the name 😉
Long story short, I bought the dress (Thank you Captain obvious- I can see the pictures) I think it’s more Rainbow Sorbet than Rainbow Bright and I rocked it!
This dress turns out to be a versatile piece in my wardrobe because I already own blazers, belts, shoes and cardigans that coordinate perfectly with every color in the dress. I love when a plan comes together 😉
Dress- BeBop via Burlington
Blazer- Ny and Company
Belt- Charlotte Russe
Shoes- Me Too via Marshall’s
Bracelet- Lia Sophia
What do you think of the dress? Is there such a thing as too much color?

Thanks for stopping,
My vacation has come to an end back to reality. We were fortunate to have great weather all week and its always a blast to spend time with family. Til next year!
Manic Monday and back to work (Yes I realize today is Wednesday I’m a little behind this week.. Bear with me 😉 I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; dresses are my staple come summer.
You can dress them up for work and dress them down for play. The LBD is the perfect example.
For Work: Grab a colorful blazer or cardigan, add some statement jewelry and wedges. Viola! Office Appropriate!
For Play: Colorful scarf, flats and a cute tote (got mine at Target $9.99!) Easy Breezy!
Here is how I styled my LBD for Work:
Shoes: Nine West
Style’in for Play:
Sunnies: Guess via TJ Maxx
Happy 4th to Everyone! What are your plans tomorrow?
Thanks for stopping by,
I love Loft! I had a few gift cards that I had gotten for my birthday earlier this month. I went on a shopping spree a week before vacation because of course when on vacation you need a new wardrobe… (All of the strangers will know the difference between this year and last years shorts and sundresses).
Ah yes the sick mind of a shopping addict 😉 Loft has great summer dresses, well made with classic silhouettes. I have and still wear dresses that I purchased a few years ago. Timeless pieces that wear well.
I purchased this black cotton dress recently and love it. It’s light weight and very flattering. I also bought the beaded stretch belt to wear with several other dresses I have in my closet. If you haven’t been to Loft lately visit soon! I’m very pleased with their summer selection.
Here is the LBD I wore last week:
Sandals- Nine West
