What I Wore: Mirror Print Sheath

Ruby Slipper Diaries is under construction and redesign by the lovely Victoria from 329 Designs. My prior posts from August haven’t carried over, bear with us while the conversion is going on 😉

I am very excited to share with you one of my Project Fab purchases from Marshalls. I had fall trends in mind when I made my purchases, I fell in love with the color and fit of this dress it couldn’t be more perfect for the transition from warm to cold weather.

I also found these gorgeous suede and patent eggplant pumps. Surprisingly, they are super comfortable for an 8 hour work day. I’m a fashion over function gal, if it looks good I’ll make it work and worry about the pain later.

Ever see the Friends episode when Monica buys the expensive boots? That episode could have been written about me. The things we do for the love of fashion!

Outfit Details:
Dress- Donna Morgan c/o Marshalls ($49.99)
Pumps- Lauren by Ralph Lauren c/o Marshalls ($39.99)
Jacket- Forever 21
Clutch- Target
Sunnies- Guess via TJ Maxx

I paired the dress with a cropped black jacket I already owned, the neck line isn’t exactly appropriate for the office, but I couldn’t contain my excitement I had to show it off ASAP! Problem solved- Jacket, blazer or Cardigan.

I envision wearing this with black tights, ankle boots and a fitted blazer later in the season.

Hope you’re having a great week!

I Am Blue, So Very Blue

While attempting to be proactive and complete my Philosophy homework early this week, I found myself falling into the pit of procrastination. I have ADD when it comes to doing school work, bright shiny objects aka- My Glamour Magazine that sat on my end table with the promise of showing me 957 Fall Outfits!!

Truth be told, I don’t want to talk about fall just yet. It’s only the beginning of August folks, lets not rush it! For two weeks I put off scouring the pages to see what “Fall” will have in store for me. Well I had to make a decision, read “The Letter from Birmingham Jail” or come face to face with the reality that cooler weather is in my future and I need to know how to dress for it. Priorities, my friends, Priorities! Don’t judge me.

I am pleased to find that summer trends will carry over into next season. Florals, for example, can still be a wardrobe staple when paired with darker back drops and accessories. Yay!

I was over the moon when I turned the page and saw head to toe Cobalt Blue! I just wore that on Monday! Boo yah- who is ready for Fall? This girl!

A few posts ago I shared a photo of Sandra Bullock in a blue ensemble here in an attempt to copycat the look:

What do you think about the monochromatic trend? Trend worth trying?

Hope you’re having a great week!

Thanks for stopping by,

PS- I did read “The Letter from Birmingham Jail” it was rather captivating actually. Martin Luther Kung Jr. was an amazing writer and passionate advocate.

See- I do have my priorities straight, just not always in the proper order 😉

What I Wore: Bright and White

I don’t know about you but I love white. White pants, dresses, shirts..etc You get the picture.

The problem I have is I can’t make it through a day without spilling something on myself. The day my blue pen decides to explode is the day I am wearing White- coincidence?

The planets were all aligned yesterday, No spills! My white pants are still white, it was a good day!

Wore to Work: Polka Dots

I was having a Polka Dot kind of day, I own enough Polka dots to have a different outfit each day but I thought that would be a bit much. I wonder if anyone in my office would even notice?

Hmm, perhaps an experiment is in my future.

Purpose: To identify who really pays attention to the details of someone’s attire.

I’ll have to draft my thesis on this matter some other time… What are your thoughts?

Summer Style Staple: LOFT Sundress

LOFT is currently having a huge sale on their dresses, now is the time to scoop them up! I promise you you’ll wear them for years. The structure and silhouettes are perfect for work and play, well made and come in a variety of colors.

I’m 5’2 so I wear petite in dresses and skirts, they are the perfect length fall right at or right above my knee in most cases unless the cut is designed to be shorter.

This dress is light and breezy in a pretty Coral color. The V in the front and back were a little too low for the office, to remedy that I threw on a floral scarf and white cardi to keep it conservative.

Outfit Details:
Dress: LOFT
Cardigan: New York and Company
Scarf: Target (Love their scarf selection)
Wedges: Nine West
Bracelets: LOFT
Earrings: New York and Company

Happy Shopping!

Wore to Work: Rainbow Sorbet

Is there such thing as wearing too much color? Found this dress on clearance for a whopping $9.99 at Burlington Coat Factory, my first thought, “There is a reason this is on clearance for 9.99, is it too Rainbow Bright?” So I put the dress down and continued to wander around the store.

If you’re not familiar, Burlington Coat Factory is similar to a TJ Maxx/Marshall’s. They carry some designer brands and have a huge coat selection- hence the name 😉

Long story short, I bought the dress (Thank you Captain obvious- I can see the pictures) I think it’s more Rainbow Sorbet than Rainbow Bright and I rocked it!

This dress turns out to be a versatile piece in my wardrobe because I already own blazers, belts, shoes and cardigans that coordinate perfectly with every color in the dress. I love when a plan comes together 😉

Outfit Details:
Dress- BeBop via Burlington
Blazer- Ny and Company
Belt- Charlotte Russe
Shoes- Me Too via Marshall’s
Bracelet- Lia Sophia
Earrings- Target

What do you think of the dress? Is there such a thing as too much color?

What I Wore: White, Teal and Cobalt

It’s Wednesday already, where does the time go? Sometimes I feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day and others I watch the clock and it crawls- Slowly. I’m having a fast week and I like it!

Hope everyone’s holiday was fabulous, lots of family/friends, food, fun and cocktails. 😉 This was my last free weekend before school starts again.. Enter Stress! Any Philosophy buffs out there?

The weather has been sweltering here and I was the brainiac that decided to wear jeans one day, white jeans. Light colors and you’ll be cooler? No, not true when it’s 100 degrees and humid, and whose idea was it to do a photo op in the black asphalt covered parking lot? That’s right, this girl, but duty calls!

There appears to be a cool breeze, this is a farce. Imagine getting into a black car with black interior that has been sitting in the sun for 8 hours with the windows up and then turning the heat on full blast… How’s that for dramatic!

Outfit Details:
Jeans- Old Navy
Top- Girl Talk via Marshall’s
Cami- Merona via Target
Flats- Top Moda
Heels- Nine West (I did a shoe change did ya notice?)
Clutch(s)- Nine West
Shades- Guess via TJ Maxx

I love the teal and cobalt color combo with the white jeans. I wore this to work on Friday with a white blazer (Not Shown- see weather description above) last worn here the straps on this top weren’t appropriate for the office so I covered up while inside. I also wore the flat sandals all day and changed into the heels for after work festivities.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!
